At Zetta Core Solutions, we are providing consulting services on design and fabrication for semiconductor optical devices. Zetta Core Solutions is a start-up company founded in 2021 by several engineers with extensive experience in device design/manufacturing at major opto-device manufacturers.

We are supporting not only the device design, but also manufacturing technologies for InP-base semiconductor optical devices, including 100-mW level DFB laser, 50Gbps EML, SOA and so on. 

Performance of optical devices depends not only on the design but also on the manufacturing process, which means it is critically important to have thorough understanding of the manufacturing process and to make the design consistent with it. Our strength is that we can do it by deep understanding of the manufacturing process based on our past experience, which enables the commercialization of new devices in a shorter period of time.

01.Gain calculation for MQW active layers

  • Theoretical calculation on gain in multiple quantum wells (MQW)

  • Accurate extraction of gain parameters based on unique method to determine transparent current of the MQW very accurately

  • More accurate design by combining both pure theoretical and semi-empirical models based on the extracted parameters (many actual applications on LD, EML, SOA and related tunable LDs in the past).                                                                                                                                                                  

02.Thermal behavior calculation on complicated structures

  • Thermal resistance calculation, including complicated structures such as ones on interpose substrates.

  • Accurate simulation of CW PI curves with the thermal roll-over

03.Parameter extraction of DFB laser and design optimization

  • Accurate extraction of kappa*L of DFB lasers by theoretical fitting to below-threshold spectrum

  • Optimization of DFB laser design based on the extracted parameters, e.g. improvement of high SMSR yield.

04.Evaluation of high speed performance(up to 70GHz)

  • Accurate evaluation of S-parameters and eye-patterns at chip-on-carrier (COC) configuration, i.e. without making into packaged modules.

  • Equivalent circuit extraction and optimization, based on the measured S-parameters                                                                                                                                                     

05.Design of multi-layer facet coating and fabrication support

  • AR film design to realize R < 0.1% over wide range (>300nm)

  • AR film optimization for guided LD modes, by considering different reflectivity spectrum between plane and guided waves.

  • Design for band-pass filter and other functional mirrors

  • Accurate evaluation of super low AR and technical support to obtain repeatability of the film reflectivity
